2024 Titletown Toss Cornhole Tournament
The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber's inaugural Titletown Toss Cornhole Tournament held on Thursday, May 17th, at the new Lowndes Park was a resounding success. The event brought together 27 enthusiastic teams for an evening filled with competitive spirit and community fellowship. Lowndes Park, located directly across from the Chamber, served as the perfect backdrop for this thrilling tournament.
To commemorate this first-ever event at the park, County Manager Paige Dukes and Chairman of the Lowndes County Commission Bill Slaughter honored the occasion by throwing the ceremonial first toss.
The tournament witnessed an impressive lineup of teams battling it out for the top spots. Emerging victorious and claiming the grand prize of $300 and a trophy was the team from Sun Stop Store #884, with outstanding performances by teammates Ricky Jernigan and Jarelton Floyd. Second place, with a prize of $200, went to Chancy Drugs, represented by Todd Barrett and John "Possum" Allen. Securing third place and a $100 prize was Downtown Social, with teammates Heath Bentley and Canyon Hebb showcasing remarkable skills.
Winner Ricky Jernigan of Sun Stop expressed his excitement about the event stating, "It was an amazing event! I hope we can do this more than once a year. The Valdosta-Lowndes Chamber is a first-class organization, the event went off without a hitch, and I can't wait to play again."
