Your Role:

We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is looking to help the community grow.

As a vital part of the Chamber team, the Director of Events & Investments works to secure top sponsorships, plans and executes events of all sizes, and devises event sales strategies. In addition, the Director of Events & Investments helps connect our members to the community. This person must be a self-starter, detail-oriented, and highly organized. There are occasions when the Director of Events & Investments will perform marketing and other VLCC-related duties to support the overall member development and health of the organization. This is a full-time position with office hours Monday – Friday 8:30AM – 5:00PM that must be willing to work occasional early mornings and late evenings events. The Director of Events & Investments reports directly to the Vice President of Member Relations.



What it Looks Like for You:

You will help ensure that our Chamber is consistently providing value to our members managing events and programs from start to finish. Event and program management includes securing sponsorships, growing attendance, ensuring event details meet the Chamber standard, etc. Working to create corporate relationships through investments and sponsorships, you will continually look for new business sponsorship opportunities. You will communicate with vendors and members daily, providing exceptional experiences with each interaction. You will enhance the image and value of the Chamber by providing positive event and investment experiences for members and future members alike.

You May Also Have (but not required):

  • Demonstrated customer service experience
  • Experience managing large scale events (200+ attendees)
  • Experience managing volunteers

Experience and Requirements:

  • Must have a minimum of 3 years working experience with demonstrated success in event planning, relationship management, and a commitment to professionalism
  • Must have excellent communication skills (written and spoken)
  • Must have excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook Excel, etc.)
  • Must have ability to coordinate efficiently with outside event vendors
  • Must understand the importance of professional dress, demeanor, and behavior
  • Must have a properly insured vehicle and a current valid driver’s license
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

 

 

 

 

 

Position Description: The Director of Events & Investments is responsible for the following:

Events & Programs: 

  • January - Business Outlook Breakfast – 100+ in attendance
  • February – Chamber Annual Awards – 500+ in attendance
  • August - Business Expo – 90 exhibitors - 500 –600 in attendance
  • October/November - Chamber Classic Golf Tournament – 100 Golfers
  • December- Farmer Appreciation Breakfast – 200 in attendance
  • Additionally:
  • Legislative Lunch
  • Washington DC Fly-In
  • Quarterly Women of the Chamber events, including a daylong conference
  • 8-10 Business After Hours events
  • Valdosta Young Professionals
  • Coffee & Commerce
  • Other events and programs in development
  • EAGLE Reception
  • STAR Banquet

Investments:

  • Work closely with the VP of Member Relations and Communications & Marketing Director in the selection of potential sponsors and details of the contract
  • Responsible for securing all major sponsorships and negotiating contracts
  • Responsible for managing invoicing process of sponsorships
  • Create and maintain corporate relationships and continually look for new business sponsorship opportunities
  • Maintains communication with sponsors and investors throughout the year
  • Seek out non-dues revenues opportunities


Events:

  • Responsible for devising attendee sales strategies
  • Responsible for securing event venues and speakers
  • Pre and post communication with event sponsors and attendees
  • Support onsite execution and management of key events, including set up and takedown
  • Track event expenses to align with designated budgets
  • Assist Communications & Marketing Director in determining event marketing approach, message, offers, displays, and signage
  • Establish, update, and follow events checklist/guidelines and timelines for each event
  • Coordinate with outside event production vendors, providing all necessary items promptly
  • Secure sponsorships and provide logistics and planning support for all events

Compensation:

This position has a base salary and is commensurate with experience.
